Rye, NY – August 23, 2024 – SFW Capital Partners, LP (“SFW”), a private equity firm focused on building market-leading companies in the industrial and life sciences technology sector, today announced the closing of the sale of Micromeritics Instrument Corporation (“Micromeritics”) to Spectris plc (LSE: SXS). Spectris closed on the acquisition of Micromeritics for an upfront consideration of $630 million plus deferred consideration of up to $53 million based on agreed financial performance metrics in 2024 and 2025. Micromeritics, headquartered in Norcross, GA, is a leading provider of analytical instrumentation for particle and material characterization, specializing in the measurement of surface area, porosity, density, and chemical activity.

SFW acquired Micromeritics in late 2019 from the founding family and put in place new leadership while investing heavily to accelerate growth by increasing the pace of innovation, building out a commercial organization to access new markets and more deeply penetrate existing markets and professionalizing core operations. A key factor in Micrometrics’ success was developing and expanding the focus of the business to include clean technology markets, including battery technology, hydrogen, and carbon capture, and by providing greater support and solutions to customers in the industrial technology and materials science markets.
